When should you consult an expert for back pain ?
The mild backaches that a person
gets once in a while can generally be managed by simple treatments like rest,
massages etc.Back pain should be taken seriously
when there is fever, swelling, redness, neurological problems or changes in
body functions.
If you are noticing or experiencing the following symptoms, it is best to consult a doctor immediately.
- Back pain due to a trauma, such as a car crash or a fall.
- If the pain is prolonged and the intensity increases.
- If simple treatments
like rest, ice pack or common pain relievers does not help alleviate the
pain.
- Abdominal pain that
accompanies the back pain
- Neurological problems,
such as weakness, numbness or tingling in the leg(s) or arm(s).

Tips to avoid backpain and injury during travel
·
Lift Luggage in Stages
Avoid lifting multiple luggage all
together. Move slowly when lifting heavy luggage & hold the baggage close
to your body so that backbone strain can be reduced.Break the action into smaller
parts whenever possible. Always bend your knees
while lifting heavy objects.
·
Bring your Own Back Support
Lumbar support pillow can be used
to support the lower back
·
Support Your Feet
Feet should be supported on a firm
surface so that additional stress transferred to your lower back can be avoided
·
Pack Light
Avoid using heavy luggage. It’s
best to use light suitcase with wheels
·
Check Your Posture.
While sitting, adjust your seat to
make yourself comfortable.Avoid hunching forward.
·
Move as Much as Possible
Sitting in one position for extended periods of
time stiffens the back muscles, which
can put stress on the spine. Move out
whenever possible
·
Stretch Your Legs and Hips
Stretch out your legs & hips to
avoid stiffness and tension over Hamstrings.(muscles in the back of the thighs)
