When should you consult an expert for back pain ?



The mild backaches that a person gets once in a while can generally be managed by simple treatments like rest, massages etc.Back pain should be taken seriously when there is fever, swelling, redness, neurological problems or changes in body functions.

If you are noticing or experiencing the following symptoms, it is best to consult a doctor immediately.

  • Back pain due to a trauma, such as a car crash or a fall.
  • If the pain is prolonged and the intensity increases.
  • If simple treatments like rest, ice pack or common pain relievers does not help alleviate the pain.
  • Abdominal pain that accompanies the back pain
  • Neurological problems, such as weakness, numbness or tingling in the leg(s) or arm(s).
